When my old friend Dave McNair suggested that I review audiophile equipment, it sounded like a great way to check out some killer gear that I could never afford and explore another sound-related passion of mine – the pursuit of listening enjoyment and sound excellence as a consumer. My oldest friends know me as the guy that would invite you over and play a new album I just discovered, turning it up really loud and yelling “Listen to those guitars!” or pointing out ear candy that most people may not normally hear.
Dave is a well-known mastering engineer who knows more about the science of what makes something sound good that I do. I’ve always said that I’m a creative sound engineer. It’s my art form. I can solder wires and build cables but the technical stuff has always been secondary for me.
Going deep into the technology behind great sounding stereo equipment was a way for me to step outside my norm and expand my perception of what good sound is. The result is two-fold – I’m doing the best post-production work I’ve ever done by further improving my listening ability and developing better ways to articulate what I’m hearing.
Writing for Part-Time Audiophile has been a blast, and it’s really fun when I can live with $4500 speakers in my system for several months, hosting friends and cranking music well into the night like I used to over 20 years ago.
The Bowers & Wilkins 705 S3 Signature Loudspeakers were the first pair of speakers to ever make my jaw drop. My review can be viewed here.

More reviews to come, cheers!
